HELPING LIVES AND SHAPING DESTINY

In recent history Liberia has suffered a series of unfortunate events.  In 2003 a 14 year civil war ended. The war and government mismanagement left the infrastructure in and around the capital almost completely destroyed.  Soon after the war in 2014 an Ebola epidemic hit the country.  At the height of the crisis more than half of the worlds Ebola cases were in Liberia.  At present more than 60% of the population is under the age of 25 and a little over 50% are living below the international poverty line.  In the summer of 2014 our Founder/Executive Director Doris Torabi visited the village of her birth, Zolupaye Town in Todee, Liberia.

While there Doris witnessed children walking hours to school carrying books on their heads.  Having been reared in the US with strong ties to Liberia Doris felt an overwhelming desire to give back to help the children she saw struggle to improve their lives.  The greatest resource of any country is it's people. It is our belief that the future of Liberia rest on educating the next generation of leaders. Our first step is to establish a school in the village of Zolupaye Town. We cannot do this work alone.  We are in need of your support.  We welcome donations of time, expertise, and financial support. Visit our "How you can help," page to view our plan.
