Doris Torabi
Founder/Executive Director
Doris Torabi is a native Liberian and U.S. citizen. As a young girl Doris admired Mother Teresa and Princess Diana but she was most influenced by Veronica Holder the woman she calls ‘Mama.’ Veronica’s Helping Hands is named in memory of her.
Doris received a Bachelor of Science degree from York College in Jamaica, NY and later served as President of the Liberian Community Association in the Dallas - Fort Worth area. She has one biological son and many spiritual children. She is an active member of her church and serves as Associate Pastor.
After working 32 years at John Peter Smith Hospital Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, Doris is retiring to pursue her heart’s desire to establish a school in the village of Zolupaye Town, Todee, Liberia.

Statement from Debbie Martin, Assistant Administrator.
After five long years of building the school, the building an outdoor bathroom with septic system, and installing a water well, securing basic school supplies and hiring 3 teachers and 2 teachers assistants. We have successfully opened our school in Zolupaye Town in Todee, Liberia September 2023.
We have approximately 100 students who finally have the opportunity to an education. Now we desperately are seeking help by way of donations to keep our school open and operating.
At the present time we are operating on a shoestring budget that barely covers our teacher's salaries. Our Immediate goal is to feed the students a daily lunch, as poverty and hunger are the two biggest issues in this village. I am imploring anyone who feels called to support our effects to consider a monthly commitment of $25 or more. If we can secure 100 people to commit to a $25 monthly donation, we can successfully keep our school open and feed these children daily. This amount is our absolute bottom line of need which includes no extra service i.e. pay teachers, feed students, keep minimum necessary school supplies replenished.
